Question
A standard 20ft or 40ft container needs 4 twist locks, one at each corner casting, to stack safely on another container or platform. Stacks of 3 or more containers use locks at every level. At sea, container ships may use additional lashing rods plus twist locks for stacks of 9 or more.
Did you know?
The number of twist locks depends on how the container is supported and transported. The goal is not simply to add more locks, but to control how forces move through the container structure.
